Provides an easy way to cite Geographic Names Information System data.
Note
This template substituted the page name when the feature name was not supplied. This is no longer a recommend practice according to the MOS. This practice lead to a high rate of errors since often the page name is not the same as the feature name. In the near future an error message will be displayed when no name is specified. The name specified should be the name as found on the GNIS Feature Detail Report page without any disambiguation.
Usage
You can start a search for a GNIS data page here. Select the search feature from the menu on the left.

The fields id and name must be specified. Specify type=antarid only if the feature is in the Antarctic.

For locations in Antarctica specify type=antarid.
