The original work shown is under the following license:Description | The Garment Worker (1984) is an 8-foot bronze sculpture by Judith Weller commissioned by the ILGWU and the Public Art Fund, and donated to the City of New York by the artist and the ILGWU. The city loaned it long-term to 555 Seventh Avenue, between West 39th and 40th Streets in the Garment District of Mitown Manhattan, where it is on permanent display on the sidewalk in front of the building. It portrays a garment worker, modeled on the artist's father, who was a tailor, and is intended as a reminder of the role of the garment worker in making New York one of the garment and fashion centers of the world.
