Template-protected edit request on 31 May 2022

Under Template:Infobox Christian leader#Template Data, it should be noted that setting the parameter Type will alter the colour of the heading. Colorboxes could be a useful way to illustrate this.

Current text:Type of leader (Priest, Pope, Cardinal, Antipope, or Coptic Pope). If the leader is none of these, leave blank to default to Bishop.

Suggested text:Type of leader (Priest, Pope, Cardinal, Antipope, or Coptic Pope). If the leader is none of these, leave blank to default to Bishop. The heading background will change to  grey for Priest ,  yellowish for pope ,  pink for cardinal  and  violet for all other settings . OJH (talk) 15:10, 31 May 2022 (UTC)

Parents

{{Infobox person}} comes with this explanation/guidance for the |parents= parameter:

Names of parents; include only if they are independently notable or particularly relevant.

{{Infobox Christian leader}} does not include the same guidance about notability/relevance of the parents. Should the guidance for {{Infobox Christian leader}} be updated for the |parents= parameter to match that in {{Infobox person}}? I think it should since the purpose of any infobox is to summarize key points (see MOS:INFOBOXPURPOSE) and including the names of non-notable/not-relevant parents seems, to me, not to be summarizing key points. I invite others to discuss here. Archer1234 (talk) 12:32, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

I agree that these should be the inclusion criteria. Elizium23 (talk) 12:52, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
While my question has not generated much discussion in the month since I asked it, there has been no disagreement, so I intend, later today, to update the documentation as indicated. If anyone disagrees, they can revert the update and come here to discuss further. – Archer1234 (talk) 15:57, 4 November 2022 (UTC)

New parameter

Hello,

For the Eastern Catholic bishops(or Eparchs as they are called), they lead Eparchies and not Dioceses even though they serve the same function. Can somebody add a parameter to the template which states that, eg. "| eparchy = ". Thank You....

Roberto221 (talk) 08:25, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

  • Support. I agree with this as well. There should be an alternative option for "diocese"/"eparchy", like with the "elected"/"appointed" parameter. The same goes for the Eastern Orthodox clergy as well. Governor Sheng (talk) 14:23, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
  • Support - agree this is appropriate and worth implementing. — Archer1234 (t·c) 15:54, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

URL details beneath the personal section

Friends, need some direction, please. The Pope, the Archbishop of Canterbury, any many evangelical church leaders have personal websites.

I'm trying to include one for the Superintendent of Wesley Mission in Sydney, Stu Cameron. Having used the Christian leader infobox for the job, I'm afraid I'm having difficulty adding it in. (Feel free to edit if you can see what I have inadvertently messed up.)

Is it a case of having that field included here in the template? I imagine at the bottom of the infobox. Archer1234 or any other experienced editor here, would be very grateful for guidance here.MatthewDalhousie (talk) 06:16, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

@MatthewDalhousie, while not very elegant this code added to the infobox might work for your purpose:
| module = {{infobox person|embed=yes|website={{URL|https://stucameron.wesleymission.org.au/}}}}
Stu Cameron
Websitestucameron.wesleymission.org.au
which will appear something like the first example to the right:
If you want to display a label different than the link itself, do not use {{URL}}, but rather brackets like this:
| module = {{infobox person|embed=yes|website=[https://stucameron.wesleymission.org.au/ Ste Cameron website]}}
Stu Cameron
WebsiteSte Cameron website

which appears like the second example to the right:

@Archer1234 that's terrific, shall give it a go now. Thanks for the response and the help.

Success! The URL itself isn't pretty, but the information is there on the article, all neat enough, and all in the right places. Thank you again @Archer1234 MatthewDalhousie (talk) 01:39, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
