Are we allowed to use Copyrighted images in our Userboxes? It seems kinda sketchy to me, since more than likely these Copyrigh holders expected us to use their image only once yet we have it so it may be displayed on several thousand pages if so desired. Deathawk 15:51, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
It is my understanding that no copyrighted images are allowed anywhere on WP and that images are assumed to be copyrighted and thus get removed, unless the poster can prove they are not copyrighted. User:AlMac|(talk) 09:40, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Can somebody PLEASE delete the "Trekkie" crack? Real fans are trekkers; the...dedicated fans (who can ID episodes by the color of the sky) are "trekists". (Trekkies are undiscriminating geek groupies who wouldn't know "ST" was a good show if it was tattooed on their foreheads.) Just surprised, so many "interests" boxes and not a single one for SP. I'm no graphic artist, but here's an attempt:

Where's the Browncoat representation? It's quite surprising to see nothing in this area, given its spread presence elsewhere. I'd make some attempt to slap something together myself, but I just... suck at this type of thing. --Bacteria 09:34, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I agree that it could look better. I kept looking under the Browncoat links because I figured someone would have used the word in the template. --Bacteria 11:40, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Saw all the Eagle and Boy Scout user boxes, and so tried to make a Gold Scout user box. Only concern is that Gold Scout is name for those who have earned their Gold Award (like Eagle Scouts have earned their Eagle Award), there might be some confusion. Any thoughts?

Re-iterating what it says at Wikipedia:Userboxes, "The use of copyrighted work as fair use is not allowed on templates". A significant number of the interests userboxes are using fair use images, mostly logos. I've removed a small number of these but many more need to have these images removed. Based on recent events, it's likely that such activity is going to result in problems. Therefore, I'm asking (despite the presence of the above quote) if there is any defense of these images being used on the userboxes? --Durin 21:06, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Correct me if I'm wrong but there seems to be no userboxes for those interested in circus skills. My speciality is juggling and my pals are into such skills as poi and unicyling, so is anyone up for designing a range? Knaw 22:24, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I see that the {{User:UBX/CAP}} box is listed on this page. Given that it is chartered as the Auxiliary of the US Air Force, I believe it would more appropriately be listed on Wikipedia:Userboxes/Regional Politics with the other military-related boxes. Image:Padi.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:14, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The page is listed in Category:Pages with too many expensive parser function calls, which means the page needs to be broken up. I have been adding new sections and moving userboxes into these sections, which is in support of breaking up the page. Adding new sections also makes the page easier to search and less random. The two big sections Wikipedia:Userboxes/Interests#Various and Wikipedia:Userboxes/Interests#Other_Interests need to be merged together, and more sections pulled out of the merge. I don't yet have a proposal of how to break up the page, but that should be more apparent after more sections are created. Obankston (talk) 19:08, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
How do I make one that says "I work in the world's oldest profession and edit on Wikipedia when business slumps" ? Bridgetttttttebabblepoop 01:02, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, it is done and installed on your user page. Example below:

{{User:Ahunt/Oldest}} | Usage |
Thank you for the barnstar! I will also add this userbox to the list at Wikipedia:Userboxes/Profession#Other. I thought it was more a "profession" than an "interest". Incidentally if you would like the box to have different colours, etc they can easily be changed. Let me know if you have any questions about adding boxes, changing colours or page layouts. - Ahunt (talk) 12:37, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
