셸백

칼 요한 슈스테르는 스웨덴 칼스함에서 태어나고 자랐다. 그는 칼스함의 지역 인디 록 밴드에서 드러머를 시작하였으며, 2003년에는 메리아의 “...Turn Him Your Other Cheek”이라는 블랙 메탈 데모 음반에 악기로 참여하여 녹음을 하였다. 이듬해에는 블라인디드 콜로니라는 하드코어 메탈 밴드에 보컬리스트로 들어갔으며, 2005년과 2006년에 각각 “Promo Demo”와 “Bedtime Prayers”를 녹음하였다. 그렇게 활동을 하며 멜로딕 데스 메탈 밴드 인 플레임즈와 비교를 하며 밴드 생활을 하다가 2007년에 밴드에서 나갔다. 2005년에는 페이스(Faith)라는 밴드의 2005년 음반 “Sorg”에 게스트로 참여하였다.
