Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode er et britisk synthrock band. Bandet ble grunnlagt i 1980 som et synthpop band, og var gjennom mesteparten av 80-tallet et av de fremste bandene innenfor new wave/new romantic-sjangeren. I 1990 fikk det sin hittil største hit, Enjoy the Silence, fra albumet Violator og etablerte seg med det som et av verdens mestselgende band. Depeche Mode har frem til i dag[når?] solgt flere enn 100 millioner plater verden over.[2]

I Moskva i 1992 gikk gruppens fans spontant ut i gatene med ønske om at «Sovjethærens dag» ble omdøpt til «Depeche Mode-dag».[3]
