It is locatit in the wast o the oblast. The aurie o the destrict is 1,707 square kilometer (659 sq mi). Its admeenistrative centre is the landwart locality (a dounset) o Matveyev Kurgan.^[1] Population: 43,446 (2010 Census);^[3] 45,604 (2002 Census);^[6] 42,992 (1989 Census).^[7] The population o Matveyev Kurgan accoonts for 35.9% o the destrict's total population.^[3]
