Live Aid
Live Aid je bil dvojni dobrodelni rock koncert za pomoč žrtvam lakote v Etiopiji, ki sta ga organizirala Bob Geldof in Midge Ure. Koncert je 13. julija 1985 sočasno potekal na starem stadionu Wembley, London (72.000 ljudi) in na stadionu John F. Kennedy, Filadelfija (89.484 ljudi). Gre za enega največjih televizijskih prenosov v zgodovini, katerega je režiral Vincent Scarza, saj ga je preko satelita, katerega slika je šla v več kot 150 držav po vsem svetu, skupaj spremljalo okrog 1,9 milijarde ljudi, oziroma 40% takratnega svetovnega prebivalstva.[1][2]

Koncert v Londonu je potekal od 13:00 do 23:00 ure po slovenskem času, v Filadelfiji pa od 14:51 do 05:05 ure naslednjega dne po slovenskem času. Svet je lahko ta dogodek spremljal 16 ur skupaj nepretrgoma.
24-minutni nastop britanske skupine Queen, še posebej izvedba "Radio Ga Ga" in "We Will Rock You", velja za vrhunec tega dobrodelnega dogodka in enega najbolj kultnih performansov v zgodovini glasbe.
Po vzoru Live Aid so se na isti dan odvijali koncerti tudi v nekaterih drugih državah, kot so Sovjetska zveza, Kanada, Japonska, Jugoslavija, Avstrija, Avstralija in Zahodna Nemčija.
Zanimivost
Phil Collins je edini glasbenik, ki je nastopil na obeh prizoriščih in to v razmaku manj kot 9 ur. Najprej je nastopil v Londonu, kjer je ob 16:49 po slovenskem času odpel še svojo zadnjo skladbo in sicer je prispeval backvokale za uspešnico "Every Breath You Take" s Stingom. Nato so ga z helikopterjem odpeljali na letališče Heatrow, kjer se usedel na nadzvočno potniško letalo Concorde, ki je potrebovalo manj kot 3 ure do New Yorka. Nato so ga od tam še z enim helikopterjem prepeljali naravnost do Filadelfije, kjer je ob 1:38 naslednjega dne zjutraj (14. julija) po slovenskem času, nastopil najprej z Ericom Claptonom in nato še solo. Na letalu je bil zelo nervozen, saj je tam srečal vplivnega glasbenega založnika Kala Rudmana, ki je odločal, kaj gre v eter in kaj ne.[3]
Obe originalni prizorišči so porušili in ju na istem mestu nadomestili z novimi. Stari Wembley so leta 2007 nadomestili z novim modernejšim stadionom, ki sprejme še nekoliko več ljudi kot stari. V Filadefiji pa so na mestu nekdanjega stadiona JFK leta 1996 zgradili novo moderno večnamesko dvorano Wells Fargo Center, ki sprejme 20.000 ljudi.
