George Raymond Richard Martin[1] (i lindur George Raymond Martin; 20 shtator, 1948), shpesh i referohen si GRRM,[2] është një shkrimtar i tregimeve të shkurtra dhe novelist amerikan, i cili shkruan ne zhanrin fantazi, horor, dhe fanta-shkencë, gjithashtu është a skenarist, dhe producent televiziv. Ai është i njohur mirë për serinë e tij të novelave fantastike më të shitura ndërkombëtarisht, A Song of Ice and Fire, të cilën më vonë HBO e përshtati për serinë e saj dramë, të titulluar Game of Thrones (loja e froneve).

Martin është bashkë-udhëheqës i prodhimit të serisë, gjithashtu skenarist i katër episodeve të serisë. Në vitin 2005, Lev Grossman nga Time e quajti Martin-in "Tolkien amerikan",[3] dhe magazina më vonë e emëroj një nga 100 personat e vitit në "2011 Time 100," një listë e "njerëzve me më shumë ndikim në botë"[4][5].

Jeta e hershme

George Raymond Martin (më vonë ai e përshtati emrin Richard, kur ishte trembëdhjetë vjeç)[6] u lind më 20 shtator, 1948,[7] në Bayonne, New Jersey,[8] djali i hamallit Raymond Collins Martin dhe gruas së tij Margaret Brady Martin. Martin ka dy motra më të vogla, Darleen dhe Janet. Babai i Martinit ishte me prejardhje gjysmë italian, ndërsa nëna e tij ishte me prejardhje gjysmë irlandeze;[9] ai gjithashtu ka prejardhje gjermane, angleze dhe franceze.

Karriera

Martini filloi të shesë profesionalisht tregime të shkurtra fanta-shkencë në vitin 1970, në moshën 21 vjeçare. Shitja e tij e parë ishte "The Hero", që ja shiti revistës Galaxy dhe u publikua në të në lëshimin e shkurtit në vitin 1971; shumë shpejt pasuan shitje të tjera. Tregimi i tij i parë që nominohet nga Hugo Award[10] dhe Nebula Award, ishte "With Morning Comes Mistfall", i publikuar në vitin 1973 në revistën Analog.
