Auf seiner siebten Sitzung vom 5. bis zum 9. Dezember 1983 in Florenz nahm das Welterbekomitee 29 Stätten aus NN Ländern neu in die Liste des UNESCO-Welterbes auf, darunter NN Kultur- (K), NN Natur- (N) und NN gemischte Kultur- und Naturerbestätte (K/N). Außerdem wurde X grenzüberschreitende Welterbestätte ausgewiesen und Y weitere auf die Rote Liste des gefährdeten Welterbes (R) gesetzt.

The Committee noted that the nominations of the Church of St. Elizabeth ofMarburg and the Hanseatic City of Lübeck (Federal Republic of Germany), as wellas the nomination of the Palais des Papes, the Old Cathedral of Notre-Dame-des-Doms, Pont Saint-Bénézet and ramparts of Avignon (France) had been withdrawn.

30. Following the recommendations of its Bureau, the Committee decided to deterexamination of the nominations which are listed below until it receives thenecessary information:

The Committee also decided not to include the Ancient City of Plovdiv nominatedby Bulgaria on the World Heritage List. The Committee considered that it wasdifficult at this stage to include urban sites on the list for their vernaculararchitecture and that the problems concerning the types of towns characteristicof the different regions of the World would first have to be clarified.
