George Cherrie

Im Verlauf seines Lebens beteiligte er sich an fast vierzig Expeditionen in Süd- und Mittelamerika, unter anderem an der Roosevelt-Rondon Scientific Expedition im Amazonasbecken.

Seine Erfahrungen verewigte Cherrie in seinen Memoiren (Dark Trails: Adventures of a Naturalist, 1930).

Bei Cyanerpes caerulea cherriei von Berlepsch & E. Hartert, 1902^[8] handelt es sich um ein Synonym für die Purpurnaschvogel-Unterart (Cyanerpes caeruleus microrhynchus (von Berlepsch, 1884)), bei Myadestes genibarbis cherriei Ridgway, 1905^[9] um ein Synonym für die Bartklarino-Unterart (Myadestes genibarbis montanus Cory, 1881) und bei Ostinops Cherrieanus Bertoni, 1901^[10] um ein Synonym für die Rotbürzelkassike (Cacicus haemorrhous (Linnaeus, 1766)).
