Chaudhary Jayant Singh (born 27 December 1978), better known as Jayant Chaudhary[2] is an Indian politician and a member of the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh since 2022. Previously, he also served as a member of 15th Lok Sabha from Mathura. He is the National Chairman of the Rashtriya Lok Dal.

Early life and education
He was born in Dallas, Texas, United States, to Chaudhary Ajit Singh and Radhika Singh in a Hindu Jat family of the Tewatia (Teotia) clan. He originally belongs to Bhatona, Bulandshahr in western Uttar Pradesh, India. He is the grandson of Chaudhary Charan Singh, former prime minister of India.[4]
He graduated from Sri Venkateswara College of the Delhi University and in 2002 received a master's degree in accounting and finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science.[5][6][4]
Career
He started his political career in 2009, when he won as a Member of Parliament (MP) from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, India. He was one of the prime movers on Land Acquisition issue and had introduced a Private Member Bill on Land Acquisition in the Lok Sabha.[7] Jayant Singh Chaudhary was a member of the Standing Committee on Commerce, the Consultative Committee on Finance, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and the Committee on Government Assurances. He has served previously on the Standing Committees on Agriculture and Finance as well as the Committee on Ethics.
In July 2022, he was elected a member of the Rajya Sabha as a candidate of the Rashtriya Lok Dal.[8]
Personal Life
Jayant Chaudhary is married to fashion designer Charu Singh, with whom he has two children. He is the grandson of Chaudhary Charan Singh, former prime minister of India and son of Chaudhary Ajit Singh, former union minister.[9]
Historically, the family has a farming background. His grandfather, Charan Singh, participated in the Indian Independence Movement and was an active member of Arya Samaj since the 1930s.[10]
