Since the first competition in the Miss Grand Thailand pageant in 2016, Phuket's representatives won the main title twice; in 2018 and 2024, won by Nam-oey Chanaphan and Malin Chara-anan,[5][6] and were named the first runner-up twice; in 2022 and 2023 by Amanda Jensen and Tia Li Taveepanichpan, respectively.[7][8]

History

In 2016, after Miss Grand Thailand began franchising the provincial competitions to individual organizers, who would name seventy-seven provincial titleholders to compete in the national pageant, the license for Phuket province was purchased by a local entrepreneur, Teerasak Pholngam (ธีรศักดิ์ ผลงาม),[1] who later organized the first Miss Grand Phuket competition on 21 April 2016,[1][2] in which a Thai-Canadian model, Amanda Obdam, was elected as the first Miss Grand Phuket titleholder.[2]

The pageant was skipped once; in 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Thailand, the national organizer was unable to organize the national event, and the country representative for the international tournament was appointed instead.[9]

Some former Miss Grand Phuket titleholders later participated in other national contests, such as Amanda Obdam, who later won the Miss Universe Thailand 2020 pageant and was placed among the top 10 finalists in the Miss Universe 2020 pageant held in the United States,[10][11] and Tharina Botes who won the title of Miss Thailand World in 2023.[12]
