Starozhilovsky District (Russian: Старожи́ловский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[6] district (raion), one of the twenty-five in Ryazan Oblast, Russia. It is located in the center of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,007 square kilometers (389 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Starozhilovo.[2] Population: 17,136 (2010 Census);[3] 17,954 (2002 Census);[8] 17,762 (1989 Soviet census).[9] The population of Starozhilovo accounts for 29.7% of the district's total population.[3]
