Obviously written by a member of the staff or ownership

Just walked by this place yesterday but didn't have a chance to eat there. This article, although it has some useful info, was obviously written by someone connected with the restaurant and is essentially a P.R. release.... Hayford Peirce (talk) 15:37, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

One of the Few?!?

I take exception to the description of Arnaud's as "one of the few" places still serving classic Creole cuisine in New Orleans. The city is full of restaurants that serve classic Creole cuisine. Mpaniello (talk) 03:38, 11 May 2019 (UTC)

  • I guess it depends on how one defines "classic Creole cuisine". (I wouldn't consider having red beans, po-boys, and oysters on the menu enough to reach that definition.) -- Infrogmation (talk) 18:15, 9 June 2024 (UTC)

PROD

I've removed the proposed deletion - it is certainly one of the best known older restaurants in the city, and we have articles about the others, including some significantly newer. I've made a first pass at making it more encyclopedic and less promotional. Further improvements welcome, but IMO it is certainly in project scope. -- Infrogmation (talk) 18:46, 9 June 2024 (UTC)

Support removal. Totally unnecessary to add PROD tag. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:47, 11 June 2024 (UTC)

Foundation date

The restaurant currently claims 1918 as their foundation year, and celebrated their centenary in 2018. However interestingly "The Story of Arnaud's", from 1950 prepared at direction of Germaine Wells, then owner and daughter of the founder, gives the date as 1920 (!) Pamphlet copied at File:The Story of Arnaud's 1950.pdf, reference to year on p. 5. More investigation from period primary sources seems merited. -- Infrogmation (talk) 23:04, 9 June 2024 (UTC)

  • From close rereading, I'm *guessing* that 1918 may be the year Arnaud Cazenave first established a restaurant, with 1920 being when he moved it to the current location on Bienville Street. -- Infrogmation (talk) 23:42, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
