This page is kind of vague as it stands. If a comedian writes a part for himself in a movie, is he automatically making character comedy?

I'm only vaguely familiar with the term—which is why I came to this page—but here's a try at a better definition: Character comedy is a method and genre used by some comedians, in which a character created by the comedian is a primary focus of his or her performance. This includes comedians who create and play very strong and distinctive characters in film, e.g. Mike Myers, as well as comedians who play their characters in settings in which it's not usually expected, as in stand-up comedy or even the real world, e.g. Sacha Baron-Cohen.

Any thoughts?
