Who really cares what a couple of Bloomsburyites (many of whom, like Strachey, were avowed pacifists) thought about a painting that sympathetically depicted the soldiers in a war they despised? And really, if you think about their comments, they are actually a testament to the power of the work, when seen up close. I would recommend re-writing that section so that it contextualizes who they were – and keep in mind that the two of them moved in the same circles, and represent not only a single view of the work, but as well a minoritarian one. @Clarityfiend and Buidhe: queried move request. -2pou (talk) 16:09, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
Oppose the primary topic of "gassed" is not the painting, it often refers to poison gas, gas chamber, fueling a car, etc. (t · c) buidhe 06:20, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
Oppose as Buidhe, really, it's painting so (painting) is only helping readers. In ictu oculi (talk) 20:48, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
Support per nom. The redirect to a dab page for gas has no incoming wikilinks and averages only one hit per day, so is not needed for anything else. Whereas the painting averages 94 views per day. It just needs a hatnote pointing to gas (disambiguation) for the rare reader who wants something else. Station1 (talk) 22:10, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
Oppose Change serves no useful purpose. Having (painting) there is helpful for readers, I believe.14GTR (talk) 22:54, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
Support. There are no other encyclopedic topics called "Gassed", and WP is WP:NOTADICTIONARY, so the fact it is a word plays no role here. There are zero articlespace wikilinks to Gassed outside of the painting page, so nothing to fix, and further evidence this is the primarytopic. Dohn joe (talk) 18:23, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
That's because it leads to a DAB and mainspace links are fixed by DABsolvers. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:59, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
The idea that this painting might be the primary topic for gassed is beyond description. It is just a painting. If necessary, Gassed (Sargent) might be an alternative, but I'm not aware of another artwork with the same title to distinguish. It has been stable for nearly 11 years. Just let it be. Theramin (talk) 02:38, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
There's also Gas (painting). I've hatnoted the two pages to each other. Narky Blert (talk) 11:40, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
Oppose. "Gassed" is the common term for the manner of death of unnumbered victims of the Nazis. Much better to keep Gassed pointing to the DAB page Gas (disambiguation), so that bad links can easily be found and corrected. (I've made a note that the links to Gas need checking. I wouldn't be surprised if several dozen are poor.) Narky Blert (talk) 11:36, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
The other topics are all at the Gassing disambiguation; better to redirect Gassed to that page. Peter James (talk) 14:27, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
Weak oppose per Buidhe since many Google results aren't for the painting. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:59, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
