Nov. 2023 update

According to the most reliable news sources as of right now, there are 6 Kmarts left, including 2 in the continental U.S. (Bridgehampton, New York and Miami, Florida). Regarding the others, there are an estimated 4 in existence (3 in the U.S. Virgin Islands, 2 in St Thomas and 1 in Saint Croix, plus 1 in Guam. This is confirmed by the latest update from Brostocks https://brostocks.com/2023/08/03/how-many-kmarts-are-left-in-the-united-states/#google_vignette and a Google Maps search seems to confirm this, although they leave out 1 particular Kmart apparently located at Sunshine Mall in St. Croix that Google Maps says in still open, but according to reliable sources, has just shut down in June (https://viconsortium.com/vi-business/virgin-islands-kmart-west-is-closing-mall-owner-says-redevelopment-plan-will-provide-first-rate-center). In any case, I highly doubt there are still 8 Kmarts left, so I am not sure why the admins are insisting on leaving an outdated and possibly biased source from April 2022 as the most reliable measure of how many Kmarts are left. Additionally, the number of Kmarts still existing in April 2022 per Brostocks was 10, so the source makes no sense one way or the other. In any case, the current number must be updated. And yes, Brostocks is a reliable source, it actively tracks retail closures throughout the U.S. Anderswarr (talk) 05:09, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

Brostocks is a WordPress blog that falls under WP:SPS and nothing I can find about it gives any indication that it is a reliable source for the purposes of Wikipedia. That particular link cites this Forbes contributor article as an indication of its reliability, but that article falls under WP:FORBESCON and is similarly unreliable. - Aoidh (talk) 05:25, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
Brostocks has been brought up here before, check the archives. As Aoidh says it is someone's blog and not a WP:RS. Their numbers are regularly incorrect, which is unsurprising because they rely on store locators which are unreliable and usually out of date. Re: I am not sure why the admins are insisting on leaving an outdated and possibly biased source from April 2022 as the most reliable measure of how many Kmarts are left. We have no deadline here, we can afford to wait until an actual reliable source comes along with an updated number. MrOllie (talk) 13:48, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

Change unusual date

I think 11/23/1977 should be changed to 1/25/1962, The Kmart test store in San Fernando, CA opened that date. 120.28.224.231 (talk) 13:53, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
