  • This paragraph...

"Ovimbundu are believed to be the most educated and qualified Angolans despite being oppressed by the MPLA Creolo government under Jose Eduardo dos Santos. This is the reason behind the long Angolan Civil war"

...clearly does not follow the neutrality guidelines. Several issues here - no citation for the Ovimbundu being "the most educated and qualified Angolans"; very dubious that the MPLA government is "Creolo"; highly disputable that "This is the reason behind the long Angolan Civil war".

Not being an expert, I am not changing the article, but someone who is an expert should do some cleanup. 62.28.11.28 (talk) 10:14, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

I have started a revision of the article, but have to stop now, and shall finish the job next week. Aflis (talk) 13:10, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

I have finally succeeded in completing & correcting the text. The article could, of course, still be developed further, but in my view is no longer a stub, and no longer deserves to be tagged as inappropriate in tone. I hope other interested users agree. Aflis (talk) 17:46, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

The Southern Mbundu, now generally called Ovimbundu Hmm... Why the article's name then is not "Ovimbundu"? 82.141.65.207 (talk) 18:48, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

You are quite right, it should be "Ovimbundu", as in other Wikipedias. As I don't know how to change article names, I hope somebody else will step in. -- Aflis (talk) 20:48, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Southern Mbundu peopleOvimbundu – The Southern Mbundu people are now generally called Ovimbundu. When the term "Mbundu" is used for people it is generally about the Ambundu (the northern Mbundu people). Calling these people "Ovimbundu" rather than "Southern Mbundu" is slightly less confusing and is closer to what they call themselves. Their language is generally known as "Umbundu" (language code umb) rather than "South Mbundu language". Article titles should based upon those terms which reliable English-language sources use to refer to the article's subject. See Wikipedia:Article titles#Deciding on an article title. After the move "Southern Mbundu people" will still be available to readers as a redirect. --Bejnar (talk) 13:53, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

  • I fully agree. "Southern Mbundu" is an old-fashioned label, and the same holds true for the language. These labels exist in English only, and even here the common use among Africanists is by now Ovimbundu /Umbundu. I thus emphatically second the proposal. -- Aflis (talk) 21:44, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
  • Also agree. Surprised to see that this was even at this title. In ictu oculi (talk) 11:54, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
