This river flows in China, so the contents of the parenthesis is inappropriate. This page should be renamed (maybe Red River (Asia)). --Juiced lemon 10:01, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved as originally requested. -- JHunterJ (talk) 19:49, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
– Per WP:NATURAL and WP:TWODABS. This river, which flows by Hanoi, is much more important than Hong River (Huai River), which flows by no major city. A hatnote will achieve the same purpose as the disambiguation page. "Hong" can mean "red" in both Chinese (hóng) and Sino-Vietnamese (hồng). 67.149.246.163 (talk) 19:02, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
Support, although i'd move Hong River to Hong River (disambiguation), and add "Hong River Delta" to that page when the moves are done.--Ortizesp (talk) 20:27, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
Support, moving Red River page over the disambiguation page, adding a hatnote. Support other move for consistency. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 10:44, 10 April 2020 (UTC)

This move seems a bit premature. AFAIK most Engllish-language sources call this the Red River, not the Hong River. DHN (talk) 03:01, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

– per WP:COMMONNAME. The current title, "Hong River"[1][2] is far less common than "Red River".[3][4] The title was stable at "Red River" from the article's creation in 2003 until the recent RM above. That RM gave no justfication or evidence for a move to "Hong River" and concern about this was raised shortly thereafter. — AjaxSmack 18:46, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
Support From a search in English language news, and from the books searches in the nomination, Red River (and Red River Valley) appears to be the more commonly used name in English language sources. This would also again make the name consistent with internationally recognized use of the name in topics like the Red River Delta Biosphere Reserve. However, the previous move outcome moving the other Hong River to a disambiguated page was the right call.--Yaksar(let's chat) 21:20, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
Support “Red River” appears to be more commonly used in English. Also to be consistent with Black River (Asia). Ale3353 (talk) 12:01, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
Support Both "Red River" and "Song Hong" seem to be much more commonly used than the current title. Esiymbro (talk) 14:46, 15 August 2021 (UTC)
Support. Clear common name. -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:14, 18 August 2021 (UTC)
