There is reliable evidence that the birthplace of Redmond Barry the son of Henry Green Barry was not the village of Ballyclough near Mallow, Co. Cork, Ireland. The evidence is that he was born at Ballyclough (also spelt Ballyclogh) a townland that is between Kilworth and Glanworth and not far from Fermoy in Co.Cork. Griffiths valuations, the Irish Tourist Board and other sources can confirm this. Fermoy is about 20 miles east of Mallow.
