First visit to Antarctica?

I started a story on Mercator Cooper who sailed a Levant from Sag Harbor, New York to Antarctica and is credited with being the first person to visit the continent in January 1853. [1] Is this the same ship? Thanks. Americasroof 05:01, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
