Ward's own comment to the same effect

I now work for New Relic. This has been reported in the local business press: http://www.oregonlive.com/silicon-forest/index.ssf/2013/04/ward_cunningham_inventor_of_th.html -- Ward Cunningham — Preceding undated comment added 16:04, 8 July 2013‎

Cunningham's Law

I feel "Cunningham's Law" is an important concept in modern culture. Is this a valid opinion or would a new Wikipedia entry with this name be immediatelty redacted you guys think?Leord Redhammer (talk) 03:00, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Inventor of metaphor : Technical Debt

I have read several sources that Cunningham was the one who coined the term: Technical Debt. Se eg: https://wiki.c2.com/?WardExplainsDebtMetaphor or https://www.agilealliance.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IntroductiontotheTechnicalDebtConcept-V-02.pdf . I think this is worthy of a topic in the article. Since this is a much more common expression than eg Cunningham's Law. Quote from agilealliance.org:

"Since Ward first used this metaphor, which he called 'Technical Debt', it has gained momentum. While people still disagree about the exact definition of technical debt, the core concept identifies a serious problem that many software teams are struggling to manage. Ward used it the first time when he was developing a financial application in Smalltalk. He wanted to justify to his boss the refactoring they were doing, so he used a financial analogy: 'If we failed to make our program align with what we then understood to be the proper way to think about our financial objects, then we were going to continue to stumble on that disagreement which is like paying interest on a loan.'" 98.128.229.44 (talk) 14:48, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
