National Register Categories

I added the Nat'l Register categories, even though the Nat'l Monument categories are already sub-cats of the Nat'l Register ones. The reason is that the above mentioned category structure is not logically correct. Not all National Monuments are on the register, only historical ones administered by the NPS. For example, Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument is correctly listed in Category:National Monuments in Hawaii but it is not on the National Register (a natural site, and not NPS administered). "World War II Valor" is a Nat'l Monument that was automatically added to the register. — Eoghanacht talk 21:18, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

I appreciate your having noted the general issue at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places/Archive 19#National Monuments as Sub-Categories of State NR Categories?. See also, now, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Protected areas#Cleanup to use Geobox rather than NRHP infobox for many U.S. National Monument articles.
It was reasonable to expect that this history-oriented National Monument would be listed on the National Register, but it apparently has not been, as it does not appear in the NRIS database (which would include it by now). I am now deleting the various NRHP categories from this article. The NM appears NOT to be NRHP-listed. doncram (talk) 19:18, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
This is an brand new umbrella monument and as such it is not in the register. But all its individual units are. Do you think the categories would be appropriate or should they stick to the units only? --h-stt !? 12:56, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
