Reference parameter

Can we have an optional reference parameter added to the template? For example, when an article uses shorted footnotes, the parameter |ref=harv makes the reference an anchor. Schwede66 17:18, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

"ref=harv" can be set (past in as a parameter) -- as in {{cite encyclopedia}}-- but it is not set by default (just like {{cite encyclopedia}}). This functionality was already in the template but not documented ("documentation is easy it doesn't have to compile" ) -- PBS (talk) 00:56, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

update

I have edited this template so that it calls {{cite DNB}} through Module:Template wrapper. I did this because this template's rendering of the citation portion should be the same as the rendering of the same citation made by {{cite DNB}}:

{{Cite DNBSupp|first=D'Arcy |last=Power|wstitle=Bucknill, John Charles|volume=1}}
Power, D'Arcy (1901). "Bucknill, John Charles" . In Lee, Sidney (ed.). Dictionary of National Biography (1st supplement). Vol. 1. London: Smith, Elder & Co.
{{Cite DNB|first=D'Arcy |last=Power|wstitle=Bucknill, John Charles|volume=1|supplement=1}}
Power, D'Arcy (1901). "Bucknill, John Charles" . In Lee, Sidney (ed.). Dictionary of National Biography (1st supplement). Vol. 1. London: Smith, Elder & Co.
