Trapezium (トラペジウム, Torapejiumu) is a Japanese novel written by then-Nogizaka46 member Kazumi Takayama. It was initially serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Da Vinci book and manga news magazine from April 2016 to August 2018. Kadokawa Shoten later published the novel in print with cover art by Tae in November 2018. An anime film adaptation produced by CloverWorks premiered in Japan in May 2024. A manga adaptation illustrated by Kina Kazuharu will begin serialization on Kadokawa Shoten's KadoComi website in August 2024.

Premise
Yū Azuma, a first-year high school student, lives her high school life by imposing four rules on herself in order to become an idol. She sets four rules for herself: “Never be active on social media,” “Never have a boyfriend,” “Don't stand out at school,” and “Make friends with beautiful girls from the north, south, east, and west." After doing the hard work, Azuma finally made friends with the “shining stars” from the north, south, east, and west.

Anime film
An anime film adaptation was announced on December 12, 2023. The film is produced by CloverWorks, directed by Masahiro Shinohara, and supervised by Koji Masunari, with scripts written by Yūko Kakihara, character designs by Rio, and music composed by Masaru Yokoyama. It was released in Japan on May 10, 2024.[1] The film's theme song, "Nanmonai," is produced by MAISONdes and performed by Hoshimachi Suisei,[11] while the ending theme song, "Hōi Jishin," is performed by Asaki Yuikawa, Hina Yōmiya, Reina Ueda, and Haruka Aikawa.[12]
Manga
A manga adaptation illustrated by Kina Kazuharu was announced on May 11, 2024. It is scheduled to launch on the KadoComi website in August 2024.[13]
Reception
By 2022, the novel had over 250,000 copies in circulation.[14]
The anime film debuted at tenth at the Japanese box office on its opening weekend.[15]
