Tymovsky District (Russian: Ты́мовский райо́н) is an administrative district (raion) of Sakhalin Oblast, Russia; one of the seventeen in the oblast.[1] Municipally, it is incorporated as Tymovsky Urban Okrug.[6] It is located in the center of the Island of Sakhalin. The area of the district is 6,312.7 square kilometers (2,437.3 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Tymovskoye.[1] Population: 16,212 (2010 Russian census);[3] 19,099 (2002 Census);[8] 25,774 (1989 Soviet census).[9] The population of Tymovskoye accounts for 48.5% of the district's total population.[3]
