Massive looting in 2000 drew the attention of Iranian archaeologists to the important Bronze Age archaeological sites in the region of Jiroft. The preliminary results of five seasons of excavation at two of the largest sites, Konar Sandal South and Konar Sandal North are presented here. Results of this work include the exposure of monumental architecture on the Citadel and domestic and industrial architecture in the lower town of Konar Sandal South. Radiocarbon dates, monumental sculpture, glyptic art and ceramics all indicate a date in the Bronze Age ranging from 2880 to 2200 B.C. The ceramics are compared to material from Bampur, Tepe Yahya and Tal-i Iblis.[1]
