Josh Carter (born January 27, 1989 in Chelmsford) is a footballer in the Southend United youth academy. Born to Amanda Olley and Christopher Carter, Josh received a great upbringing, which has witnessed him receiving great education at King Edward VI Grammar School (Chelmsford) where he completed his GCSEs in 2005, and has recently achieved five A grades in his AS levels.

Carter has recently confirmed his engagement to English comedy-actress Nicola Mandy.

Carter featured on Countdown at just 15 years of age. However this was recorded just 3 broadcasts before Richard Whitely was taken ill; however this show was not bradcast due to Whiteley's tragic death just weeks later.

Carter is tipped by league scouts to be one of England's most promising footballer's, after being touted by Harry Redknapp to be the next David Platt.

Playing Career

Carter was spotted in localised Arsenal F.C. trials in 1998, at the tender age of just 9 years old. However, after declining the chance to attend the Arsenal F.C. junior academy, Southend United snapped up to youngster on a youth contract when he was 11. He has been at Southend United since 2000, but has only made 2 senior appearances for the Essex-coast outfit.

Carter is cousin to Essex-born snooker-sensation Allister Carter, and is also great-nephew to Quentin Wilson.
