I'm Jeffrey King Malcomson of Helena, MT. My day-job is being a photograph archivist at the Montana Historical Society Research Center, which the state has paid me to do since 2005. All the rest of the time I pretend to be an historian. It's going pretty well so far, except I haven't written any books or become famous, for which I fully blame my kids. I consider myself a public historian, and I figure that WP is a very public entity, so I'd like to try my wares here for a while and see what happens. Though academic credentials don't mean much on WP, they mean something to me, so here goes: BA in History from Covenant College in beautiful Lookout Mountain, GA, in 1996; MA in History from Colorado State University in 1998. I have a raging interest in the history of the American West and have for 25 years now. I have worked as an archivist and studied state history in Colorado, Arizona, and Montana now for a total of 20 years.
I focus my WP time on articles related to Montana history. I'm also interested in articles related to the history of the American West, archives and archival science, history of the national parks, and my one, true weakness, Colorado Rockies baseball.
I have helped organize WP edit-a-thons at the Montana Historical Society since 2015 (see Wikipedia:GLAM/Montana History).
