Background
I was born in the year of the Fire Tiger, 1986, to an African-American, Afro-Mexican and Native American mother and a Puerto Rican father. I recently found more of my mother's heritage during Christmas vacation. I was visting her sister's family in Moreno Valley, when my cousin told me she found memoirs of my maternal great-great-grandfather during the Civil War times. We then found in his memoirs that he, since the United States wasn't treating African-Americans fairly, was the one who migrated and colonized freed African slaves into Mexico. As for my father, he was born and raised during his childhood in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and moved to California with his family during his teens.
