Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson, a senior network engineer at Allsafe Cybersecurity and a vigilante hacker.^[4] He has dissociative identity disorder and deals with other mental illnesses such as clinical depression and severe anxiety, which are partly responsible for his antisocial behavior and drug use.^[5][6]

Darlene Alderson

Carly Chaikin portrays Darlene Alderson,^[7] Elliot's younger sister,^[8] a malware coder and one of the fsociety hackers.^[9][10]

Angela Moss

Portia Doubleday portrays Angela Moss^[11] is Elliot's childhood friend and a fellow employee at Allsafe, later PR Manager for E Corp.^[9][10][12]

Tyrell Wellick

Martin Wallström portrays Tyrell Wellick,^[13] the ambitious Senior Vice President of Technology at E Corp and later part of fsociety.

Mr. Robot

Christian Slater portrays Mr. Robot,^[14] an insurrectionary anarchist who recruits Elliot into an underground hacker group called fsociety.^[15] Slater also portrays Edward Alderson, Elliot's father.^[16]

Michael Cristofer portrays Phillip Price,^[17] the CEO of E Corp and Angela's biological father.

Joanna Wellick

Stephanie Corneliussen^[17][18] portrays Joanna Wellick (née Olafsson)^[3], Tyrell's wife.

Whiterose

BD Wong portrays Whiterose, a trans woman who works as a cyber-terrorist and leader of the Dark Army. Whiterose also operates under her birth name Zhi Zhang, China's male Minister of State Security.^[20][21]
