I did my PhD in the Department of Genetics, Trinity College, Dublin, which was generously funded by the Embark Initiative Scholarship from the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology. I also studied at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven for my MSc degrees. In 2012 I received the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad (国家优秀自费留学生奖学金) from the China Scholarship Council.
My research interest
I have broad interests in evolutionary biology.
- Understanding the molecular basis of adaptive evolution and natural selection.
- Molecular evolution.
- Population genetics and non-adaptive/adaptive processes.
- Evolution of host-pathogen interactions
- Origin and evolution of protein-protein interactions.
- Evolution of protein posttranslational modifications and intrinsically disordered proteins.
- Origin and evolution of biological complexity.
- Somatic evolution in cancer.
- Evolution of Epigenetic modifications
- Potential therapeutic targets.
