Greetings! Why do you keep editing out my contribution to "Mulatto?" Re: that it is 'debatable whether Mulatto is derogatory."?? I am Mulatto and Afro-Metis. I grew up with no indication what so ever that 'Mulatto' was a derogatory term. I do not consider it derogatory. It is legal term developed by colonial governments to categorize people in order to limit access and control populations. Originally though, 'Mulatto' was a distinct class and ethnicity pre-colonial era. However, a self-aware ethnic mixed-race culture is not ruled out by the colonial categorizations like 'Mulatto.' I have included scholarly references to support my claim.
