A Many Splendored Thing (Homicide: Life on the Street) GA review
Hi I have reviewed A Many Splendored Thing (Homicide: Life on the Street) against the GA criteria and have a couple of queries so have placed it on hold. --BelovedFreak 12:56, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, I've listed it - good work on all these good articles! By the way, I listed it under "M" at Wikipedia:Good articles/Arts, I wasn't sure if it should be "M" or "A", so if you disagree, feel free to change it. --BelovedFreak 20:57, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Homicide: Life on the Street (season 2)
The article Homicide: Life on the Street (season 2) you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Homicide: Life on the Street (season 2) for eventual comments about the article. Well done! GRAPPLE X 02:35, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
- Just hitting you up a for a question about the citations you've used in the H:LotS articles. There's a ton of well-sourced stuff there, but none of it is online - are you getting this from a library or have you kept hold of things in print that might be useful to you? I'm interested because I'm trying to expand a few music-based articles and having trouble finding reliable sources, if there was some ready way of searching relevant newspapers, etc, for contemporary reviews it would be useful to me. Don't worry if it's some local library thing, but if you're using some web archive I'd love to know about it. Thanks! GRAPPLE X 23:06, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Camping (Parks and Recreation) DYK
Hi there,
I just had a look at the DYK nomination for Camping (Parks and Recreation), and unfortunatly the cited reference for the hook doesn't support it. I had a read through the reference and it doesn't mention ALF or the dream diary. Could another reference be provided?
WikiCup 2011 March newsletter
We are half way through round two of the WikiCup, which will end on 28 April. Of the 64 current contestants, 32 will make it through to the next round; the two highest in each pool, and the 16 next highest scorers. At the time of writing, our current overall leader is Hurricanehink (submissions) with 231 points, who leads Pool H. Piotrus (submissions) (Pool G) also has over 200 points, while 9 others (three of whom are in Pool D) have over 100 points. Remember that certain content (specifically, articles/portals included in at least 20 Wikipedias as of 31 December 2010 or articles which are considered "vital") is worth double points if promoted to good or featured status, or if it appears on the main page in the Did You Know column. There were some articles last round which were eligible for double points, but which were not claimed for. For more details, see Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring.
A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round three is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. J Milburn and The ed17 00:58, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Wikipedia books
Hello, I understand you are trying to promote Homicide: Life on the Street (season 1) and Homicide: Life on the Street (season 2) to a good topic. I'm going to put up Spooks (series 7) as a good topic candidate and I want help on something; how do I make a Wikipedia book? Thank you. -- Matthew RD 14:56, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

- Project news
- With the continued inactive WikiProject consolidation and cleanup, WikiProject Film Music was deleted in March due to no activity since 2008. WikiProject Media Franchises is currently undergoing a similar deletion discussion.
- Based on views, the top five most popular articles from our project this month were: Sucker Punch, Battle: Los Angeles, Black Swan, The King's Speech, and 2011 in film. For a list of our project's top 1,000 most popular articles, see here. Consider helping to improve one of these articles that is seen by thousands to millions of people each month.
- The GA Friday the 13th (2009 film) is currently at peer review. Stop by and leave a few comments at the review on further improving the article as it continues on its path to FAC.
- Our project currently has just under 83,000 film-related articles, with only a few unassessed articles, thanks to the assessment department! Remember to always add the
{{WikiProject Film|class=}}
template to a film article's talk page so the project can get a better idea of what work still needs to be done. If you believe that an article should be assessed at a certain class, feel free to follow the assessment scale and assess the article yourself (it's not too difficult to determine the basic classes such as stubs, categories, or lists). Thank you for your participation in the March 2011 GAN backlog elimination drive
On behalf of User:Wizardman and myself, we would like to take the time and thank you for your contributions made as part of the March 2011 Good articles backlog elimination drive. Awards and barnstars will go out shortly for those who have reviewed a certain number of articles.
During the backlog drive, in the month of March 2011,
- 522 GA nominations were undertaken.
- 423 GA nominations passed.
- 72 GA nominations failed.
- 27 GA nominations were on hold.
We started the GA backlog elimination drive with 378 GA nominations remaining, with 291 that were not reviewed at all. By 2:00, April 1, 2011, the backlog was at 171 GA nominations, with 100 that were left unreviewed.
At the start of the drive, the oldest unreviewed GA nomination was 101 days (Andrei Kirilenko (politician), at 20 November 2010, reviewed and passed 1 March 2011); at the end of the drive the oldest unreviewed GA nomination was 39 days (Gery Chico, at 24 February 2011, still yet to be reviewed as of this posting).
While we did not achieve the objective of getting the backlog of outstanding GA nominations down to below 50, we reduced the GA backlog by over half. The GA reviews also seemed to be of a higher quality and have consistently led, to say the least, to marginal improvements to those articles (although there were significant improvements to many, even on the some of the nominations that were failed).
If you would like to comment on the drive itself and maybe even make suggestions on how to improve the next one, please make a comment at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Good articles/GAN backlog elimination drives/March 2011#Feedback. Another GA backlog elimination drive is being planned for later this year, tentatively for September or October 2011. Also, if you have any comments or remarks on how to improve the Good article process in general, Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles can always use some feedback at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Good articles.
Again, on behalf of User:Wizardman and myself, thank you for making the March 2011 GA backlog elimination drive a success.

WikiCup 2011 April newsletter
Round 2 of the 2011 WikiCup is over, and the new round will begin on 1 May. Note that any points scored in the interim (that is, for content promoted or reviews completed on 29-30 April) can be claimed in the next round, but please do not start updating your submissions' pages until the next round has begun. Fewer than a quarter of our original contestants remain; 32 enter round 3, and, in two months' time, only 16 will progress to our penultimate round. Casliber (submissions), who led Pool F, was our round champion, with 411 points, while 7 contestants scored between 200 and 300 points. At the other end of the scale, a score of 41 was high enough to reach round 3; more than five times the score required to reach round 2, and competition will no doubt become tighter now we're approaching the later rounds. Those progressing to round 3 were spread fairly evenly across the pools; 4 progressed from each of pools A, B, E and H, while 3 progressed from both pools C and F. Pools D and G were the most successful; each had 5 contestants advancing.
This round saw our first good topic points this year; congratulations to Hurricanehink (submissions) and Nergaal (submissions) who also led pool H and pool B respectively. However, there remain content types for which no points have yet been scored; featured sounds, featured portals and featured topics. In addition to prizes for leaderboard positions, the WikiCup awards other prizes; for instance, last year, a prize was awarded to Candlewicke (submissions) (who has been eliminated) for his work on In The News. For this reason, working on more unusual content could be even more rewarding than usual!
Sorry this newsletter is going out a little earlier than expected- there is a busy weekend coming up! A running total of claims can be seen here. Hi
You have commented that: "Rita also features in the Dexter series of novels written by Jeff Lindsay" is grammatically incorrect. How so?
The previous copyedit was done by me and I would really like to know what parts you feel need reworking.
Thanks Chaosdruid (talk) 01:49, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
- I think the problem may have arisen from the "also" - as it was the start of the text if there was nothing else to feature in before the sentence then there cannot be an also. I think it is moot now though as I cannot find that wording in the article :¬)

Canvassing
This is WP:CANVASSING. Please undo it. --Damiens.rf 19:35, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
- As Damiens points out on the IFD page,[3] it's ok to notify a noticeboard of an XFD discussion if the notification is worded in a neutral way, see Wikipedia:CANVASSING#Appropriate_notification where it says "The talk page of one or more WikiProjects (or other Wikipedia collaborations) directly related to the topic under discussion." Just change the wording and section heading of this to something neutral and you'll be ok. Don't try to sway voters, just notify them that the vote is taking place. WikiCup 2011 May newsletter
We're half way through round 3 of the 2011 WikiCup. There are currently 32 remaining in the competition, but only 16 will progress to our penultimate round. Casliber (submissions), of pool D, is our overall leader with nearly 200 points, while pools A, B and C are led by Racepacket (submissions), Hurricanehink (submissions) and Canada Hky (submissions) respectively. The score required to reach the next round is 35, though this will no doubt go up significantly as the round progresses. We have a good number of high scorers, but also a considerable number who are yet to score. Please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. Also, an important note concerning nominations at featured article candidates: if you are nominating content for which you intend to claim WikiCup points, please make this clear in the nomination statement so that the FAC director and his delegates are aware of the fact.
A running total of claims can be seen here. J Milburn and The ed17 23:29, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

{{WikiProject Film|class=}}
template to a film article's talk page so the project can get a better idea of what work still needs to be done. If you believe that an article should be assessed at a certain class, feel free to follow the assessment scale and assess the article yourself (it's not too difficult to determine the basic classes such as stubs, categories, or lists). Below is a table showing a breakdown of our articles by class. - Spotlight Update:

Palmer Township
It was decided that all Pennsylvania townships should have the county name appended, to fit the pattern used by almost all other states. Aside from Michigan, every state with townships (whether standard civil townships, or other types) uses the form "___ Township, ___ County, State". It's not a matter of disambiguation. Nyttend (talk) 17:26, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- It was too long ago; I don't remember where. Anyway, this is not in violation of the naming conventions, for as I said before, it's not a form of disambiguation. It's simply a matter of consistency from township to township, because it's helpful to have all townships statewide using the same name format. Nyttend (talk) 22:14, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
