WikiProject Theatre April 2008 Newsletter

The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter (April 2008)
The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter!
Issue 2 - April, 2008

Welcome to the second edition of the WikiProject Theatre Newsletter. This month's newsletter is focused mainly on recruitment and generally upping the profile of the WikiProject. Read on to find out more...

Recruitment

Just in case you haven't had a chance to head on over to our new-look WikiProject yet, this is to let you know that on the Templates page there is now a new "Welcome banner" which is to be placed on any new members talk pages. However, it is yet to be used as we haven't had any new members join the WikiProject within the last month! If you know of a user which has been contributing to theatre-related articles recently then why not drop them a line on their talk page and invite them to come and join us? That way, we can finally use thour lovely shiny new Welcome banner template. We hope eventually to be able to use this newsletter to show off about the vast numbers of new members we have joining us each month, rather in the way that the newsletters of other WikiProjects do.

Collaboration of The Month

This month's COTM has remained unchanged as no-one has nominated any articles to become the new incumbent. Quick - get yourself down to the COTM page and nominate an article for next month!

Assessment

Just a note to say that there are two articles down at the Assessment page which have requested assessment. Please could a member of the project pop over and assess them for us? It's only a small task.

Whilst we're on the subject of assessment, an ongoing task is to assess every article within Category:Unassessed Theatre articles, feel free to make a start on a few when you have a moment.

And finally...

Don't forget to add the WikiProject Theatre userbox to your userpage to spread the word about the project!

We're currently looking for members to volunteer in the compiling of this newsletter each month - please drop us a line at the talk page if you're interested in helping - be it in the delivery or writing processes of it!

You have received this newsletter because your name is on the list of Participants on the WikiProject page. If this information is out of date and you no longer wish to receive the newsletter, please remove your name from the Participants list and also click here to stop receiving the newsletter.

Impersonator

The user at no:User:Kyoko is blocked as an impersonator. Jeblad (talk) 00:34, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

It's JtV. Please ignore and I'll ask a local 'crat to rename. His IP is now blocked across a large number of wikis - Alison 00:50, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

rename request

This is confirmation of my request to usurp the account of User:Kyoko at Wikipedia på norsk. Takk! --Kyoko 16:06, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Try to log in at no:user:Kyoko, and see if its possible now. Jeblad (talk) 16:25, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello Kyoko

I've been having a go at polishing up the Respiratory disease page. Please have a look at some stage. I would appreciate other people's input. Orinoco-w (talk) 08:29, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for having a read. I've clarified "parenchyma" and replaced "sequelae" with a lay-man's terminology. I really want to get rid of the bits that talk about FEV1 and FVC and all kinds of rubbish like that because I think they belong to more dedicated articles such as the page on COPD (which I've looked at and been unimpressed with) and maybe one on Restrictive Lung Diseases, which doesn't exist yet. I really would like some sort of guidance or template for encyclopaedias. In medical training doctors eventually get a template for talking about disease drummed into them: Dressed in a Surgeon's Gown a Physician makes clinical progress - for Definition, Incidence, Age, Sex, Geography, Aetiology, Predisosition, Macroscopic/Microscopic pathology, Clinical Features/Course, Prognosis/Public Health. However, it doesn't seem to be readily applicable to wikipedia! Orinoco-w (talk) 02:59, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Heh! Thank you for the link to Wikipedia:MEDMOS. I guess it's pretty close to the MEDMOS headings. I'll keep plugging away. Orinoco-w (talk) 15:28, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Japanese Music Charts

Hi, I'm just writing to you to request your help and assistance in referencing the Japanese Music Charts. Through out alot of popular english songs I have viewed I have noticed that they have been noted as performing well in Japan and have also read that the Japanese music market it very big. But in saying this every song I have seen has not got a Japanese chart position in the charts box. So if you are into music and willing to try and provide information on the Japanese Music Charts it would be greatly appreciated so then wikipedia users can start adding the Japanese chart positions into the chart boxes for popular songs. TeePee-20.7 (talk) 17:06, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Oh okay thank you anyway and I appreciate you taking the time to reply and help. Farewell, and take care. TeePee-20.7 (talk) 03:36, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Accounts on pt projects

Dear Kyoko,

I asked local bureaucrats on pt.wikiquote and pt.wikibooks to rename a vandal account "Kyoko", which has been done in the meanwhile ([3], [4]). So that login is free for you to use if you want to start writing in Portuguese ;P. You may want to undo your global account and redo it to include such accounts (or not), but it's up to you. Lady Aleena's RfA

Kyoko...Thank you for participating in my nomination for adminship. Your comments have shown me those areas in which I need improve my understanding. I hope that my future endevors on Wikipedia will lead to an even greater understanding of it. If you wish to further discuss the nomination, please use its talk page. Stop by my talk page anytime, even if it is just to say hello. Have a wonderful day! - LA @ 05:10, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Lady Aleena's future

Kyoko...Several people have expressed an interest in my next probable nomination for adminship. Messaging people when it happens would look a lot like canvassing, so I would prefer not doing that. If you are interested in it, you could add this to your watchlist. If it is created, you will know, maybe even before I do depending on how often you check your watchlist. If you wish to gush prior to it being officially up, have fun, but only when it happens please. I am in no particular rush. Have a very nice day! :) - LA @ 10:11, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Kyoko...Thank you for your concern about this. I have added my comments to this issue here. Hopefully, I will be forgiven this error, and all parties can move onto other things, like say editing articles. :)
Regarding the e-mail issue, it is suspicious e-mail I delete, not just unexpected e-mail. I guess I should add that I check my talk page messages more frequently than I do my e-mail.
I will continue to make minor spelling and grammar edits to articles, as I have always done; and create new little articles when I come across a subject that is not created yet, which would more than likely be a stub. (I created two stub articles which still need expansion, I just don't have the information needed to go further with them.) I am still in the process of making a work list for myself. Mostly I prefer to work behind the scenes.
About my personal information, thank you for your concern. Most of that information is general, with no real specifics except for perhaps my birthday. Thank you for your interest in my privacy.
Have a wonderful day! - LA @ 13:01, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Regarding email

Hi Kyoko, I read your comments at Lady Aleena's talkpage (very well worded by the way), and I can affirm that in fact you are correct, there is no requirement for an admin to have email enabled. I'm one of them in fact, that does not have email (and never will). The only risk (one I'm willing to take) is if I were to lose my password, I couldn't use email to have it sent to me, thereby ending my Wiki career. Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 17:28, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Theatre May 2008 Newsletter

The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter (May 2008)
The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter!
Issue 3 - May, 2008

Welcome to our third newsletter - we've got lots to get through this month so without further ado, let's crack on...

The Big Debate - Character Lists in Play Articles

For those of you who haven't headed over to our talk page recently - you've been missing out! Throughout the past month there's been great discussion about the issue of character lists in play articles. The aim is to form a standard presentation of character lists to be used on all play articles so if you'd like to make your voice heard on the issue then check out the talk page now.

Collaboration of The Month

Yet again this month's COTM has remained unchanged as no-one has nominated any articles to become the new incumbent. Quick - get yourself down to the COTM page and nominate an article for next month!

Assessment

The number of articles at the Assessment page are growing - if you're feeling a little lost and don't know where to begin to help us out, head on down to the Assessment page and give us a hand.

New members

The past month has seen Dereksmootz, Duckie for broadway, Dozenthey, Fewster, Nrswanson, Kleinzach and Broadweighbabe join us - welcome to you all! It's wonderful to see such a large influx of new members.

If you've been editing a theatre-related article recently and noticed another user helping you who also appears to have an interest for the subject of theatre, why not drop them a line and invite them over to the project?

HELP!

We're crying out for people to help us out wherever possible. We are currently looking for members to volunteer to give us a hand in several areas. If you can do any of the following, please drop us a line at the talk page:

  • Newsletter Editor(s) - Always fancied yourself as a bit of a journalist? Perhaps you could help us write this newsletter - it doesn't take long to compile. Maybe you'd like to help but can't commit on a regular basis? In that case, why not rally round a few other members of the project to help you out and take it in turns each month to compose the newsletter?
  • Mailmen/women - If writing the newsletter isn't your bag then maybe you could help in the distribution of this fine document? As our membership grows it becomes quite laborious to send it to everyone. It's only a quick task that needs doing once a month, and really is just a case of copying and pasting a template onto our members talk pages.
  • Portal editor(s) - It's come to our attention that the Theatre Portal hasn't been updated in a long time and we'd like to get someone, or a group of people to take charge of it and get it up to the standard of some of the great portals out there (e.g. the Comedy Portal, the Solar System Portal etc).
And finally...

Don't forget to add the WikiProject Theatre userbox to your userpage to spread the word about the project!

Proposal

Since you were heavily involved in the discussion at Wikipedia:Responding to suicidal individuals some time ago I thought you might be interested in discussing the merits of a similar but slightly different proposal here. I would be very interested in your opinion. Cheers, --S.dedalus (talk) 00:44, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
