Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made: You may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. No problem. I don't know if you know about user scripts, but you might want to check out Twinkle - I've found it very helpful in reverting vandals & warning them. You can just click buttons without having to copy & paste, or remember warning templates. No sorry, wrong venue! These checks are called "Checkusers" and are usually performed at WP:RFCU. Very few people have access to these tools due to the privacy breach involved. These checks are only used as a last resort, and I fear User:Ladybird69 is not problematic enough to be checked against the IP. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. I just wanted to drop by and let you know that I removed a CSD tag you had applied to The university of texas at austin in favor of redirecting the page to University of Texas at Austin. I find that obvious typos like this are better suited to redirects than speedy deletion, as it prevents the article from being remade over and over again while introducing the editor who created it to the proper article, which in turn can encourage them to collaborate on something they clearly have an interest in.

The very nature of the article makes it hard to remove the ad-like qualities: the article is named after the product and the company is named after the product. It would seem less ad-like if the article was about this type of technology in general and Biolytix was mentioned as one of the technologies or if the article title was something like Trickling filter septic technology and covered more than just one company. The 'multi-award winning' peacock words in the first sentence also don't help. Yes, that statement is true, but ad copy can be true too. An encyclopedic article on a company usually wouldn't focus on a company this small or with this short a history, an encyclopedic article on a technology wouldn't usually focus on just one company but cover the industry more generally. Lastly, the step by step description of the technology reads like what I would find on the company's website in the "Product" section, there is no larger context given on history, criticism, industry regulation, it is all too narrow a focus. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. yes, much better things unless it affects your livlihood...(ie pays the bills). its just that the revisions made since Nov 2007 have 'added' content that doesn't exist - actual references to news articles were modified to include earningswhispers when the original article made no such reference. The quick answer is: The article needs a lot of improvements to make it readable, the first of which is to make it prose as opposed to a random collection of facts and links. The correct way to discuss new research on Baldness is not to have a couple of bare links slapped in the middle of the article. Those links should be references for paragraphs of text that discuss current research. Also, I did not remove the links from the article, I moved them to a new External Links section. Lastly, the right place to discuss this is the talk page for the article. On a personal note, why so aggressive a response? Why not just discuss the article in un-emotional terms? You can suggest it to others at Wikipedia talk:Help desk. The top of the help desk says:

The first question at the link is "How do I create a new article?". I guess the question is usually asked by people who don't read the help desk instructions. Adding FAQ questions to the top would make the instructions longer and probably cause fewer to read through them so I don't support it. The standard answer is made in seconds with {{Creation}} so I don't mind answering it many times. Good question. Here is the history:

• I marked it patrolled at 5:09 UTC. It would seem I marked a version patrolled that already had a db-nonsense tag on it.
• That version was deleted at 5:12
• The next copy of the article was created at 5:13 UTC (and deleted at 7:10).

The user recreated the article after my patrolled version got deleted. So, as best I can tell everything I did was OK. Yes? —Noah 06:18, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm glad I asked. I saw that there was something odd going on with that page (created with a hangon tag). I thought that tagging pages for CSD automatically marked them as patrolled. Yeah, the (new) "mark as patrolled" feature is nice but needs some tweaking. My pie in the sky feature would be queues where experienced patrollers would each get their own "feed" so that we weren't stepping on each others toes -- maybe we could get 5 minutes to either improve or CSD new pages without edit conflicts. Hi there, and yes, I am responsible for your issues with this banner. I recently converted the banner to use {{WPBannerMeta}}, a meta-template which will enable standardisation of WikiProject banners across Wikipedia. Of course I'll be glad to fix any problems the transition might have caused. I've modified the meta-template code so that using |needs-taxobox=no does not trigger the taxobox message. I do want this to be done correctly and really urge yourself and other to allow the Circle- R because within legal rights that symbol needs to follow the name. I wanted to create this page to show the correct naming of this plant and removing the Circle-R depicts the name incorrectly.

No problem. Happy to help. I totally understand that in other print publications you need the circle-R... but it breaks the guidelines here at Wikipedia. You can look around at lots of other trademarked names (coca-cola, jeep, xerox) here and you will rarely if ever see a TM or circle-R. • Hi Josh, my personal opinion is that the tags are on the borderline of being needed for that page. But, there is some validity to each of them. In the case of notability there aren't quite enough 3rd party references to remove that tag. Well, I will admit that HotHardware seems to be at the borderline of notability (rather than patently not-notable), but I poked around a little and came to the conclusion that it didn't meet the standard. Just one guys opinion... and you rightfully put the hang-on tag on it. Now someone else (an admin) gets to review it. The reason I came to the conclusion it did not meet the notability guideline was from the ranking on Alexa.com, the lack of any news coverage about the site (that is, stories about the site itself, rather than links to information on the site), and the small count of Google news hits in total. There are additional problems as well, specifically conflict of interest on your part (I assume you are Dave "Davo" Altavilla) and the {{newsrelease}} feel to the article. —Noah 06:04, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

User:Duke53 will not stop harassing me on North Carolina Tar Heels related articles. He continually edits out any changes and uses poor reasoning to do so such as "lack of citations" regarding almost any statement. He baits people into 3RRs and carries an extremely poor tone and lack of civility towards his fellow editors. He has had several Admin Interventions for his behavior, yet won't stop. I cannot interact with him, and have requested in the past we work things out amicably. His most recent target of contention is the North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball page. If you really examine the editing history, I am not vandalizing, I am simply reverting absurd edits and applying the same stringent standard that he keeps warning me for and challenging me to. If empty threats to him are all that are going to come from repeated incidents with other editors as his colorful past illustrates, then I have no choice but to keep reverting, which leads me to receiving those empty 3RR warnings. • Imagine if you will a nasty neighbor that lives next door. The neighbor has a barking dog. It doesn't bark all the time, but just enough to be really annoying. You could call the police but they might get annoyed at you for taking them away from more important sutff like car accidents and assaults. Plus, when ever they come by the dog isn't barking so much. You try and work with your neighbor but he refuses to listen. Do you sue your neighbor and spend thousands on legal fees for your pain and suffering? Alternatively you could just be patient, do something simple like get 50 cent ear plugs and wait knowing that eventually other good neighbors will come to your aid. Maybe you turn off the basketball game that the barking is interrupting and go outside and actually play basketball. Now, you might say to me "how do I stand my ground and fight this injustice" and I would say it might be a lot cheaper and healthier (spiritually and physically) to go to the basketball court and shoot some hoops rather than go to civil court. How long is the process intended to last? It looks like the friends of the admins in question will continue streaming in as this has become a personal issue for them. I think getting blocked by William and then having his friend deny my appeal is very questionable.

Thanks for the warning, Noah, and I'd completely agree except for one thing; I never performed any sort of edits on Severin because I don't have even the slightest clue of what Severin is. Noah, I am still in shock about the situation above, but here is what I was coming to your page to ask about: I have worked on this article -- Regina (opera) -- which was began life in Wikipedia as a Stub, as you can see in the history. It had a banner at the beginning of the article about the need for sources and another banner on the Discussion Page noting it as Start Class. In my opinion it doesn't deserve these banners any longer, and I am curious how to go about removing them. Can I do it myself? First of all the novel is The Road to Samarcand. I tried to absorb your information and also that of the other editor, Tetratornis, who suggested I try out any attempt in my sandbox. I attempted the edit, testing it in my sandbox first, and formalized it. I then inserted the navigation box in my article, The Road to Samarcand, and all looks fine. HOWEVER, when I link to other works in the box, there is no mention of The Road to Samarcand in the navigation boxes on the other works I have checked. It certainly is puzzling that you can't see the change in the template. As purely a troubleshooting effort you might try launching a separate browser (e.g. IE vs Firefox).
