October 2023

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that in this edit to Hindu Shahis, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 02:43, 24 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi , please check the given source I am reading this article & seeing the history in which source is present which was removed with given information so I added that. See R S Sharma's Early Medieval Indian Society mentions which I reverted and another thing I not removed any content but add the content with source. Pitahma (talk) 02:51, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
Same thing is mentioned in the , First Encyclopedia of Islam : 1913 - 1936 by E.J Brill , see Pitahma (talk) 02:56, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
I have more sources for my which confirms my point. See Pitahma (talk) 03:02, 24 October 2023 (UTC)

Bhagat Parmanand

Hi, can you please provide page numbers & quotes from the sources you changed in this edit. I'm assuming you didn't use a "snippet view" from Google Books.

Since caste is often disputed even in reliable sources, it would be good to know what the original sources said, not just your replacements. That is because if reliable sources differ in what they say then we usually include all points of view - our goal is to present information neutrally, not to pick sides. Thanks - Sitush (talk) 13:44, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

I just checked the edit , the source which is added , indeed a snippet view of the book : Why Americans Love Meditation and Sikhism from the page no. 167 but I have another source with page no. & quote i.e. from the book : The Encyclopedia of Sikhism it mentions what is written on this article on page no. 170 , its goes like below :
" RAMANAND : Ramanand was the son of Bhoor Karma and Sushila and was a Gaur Brahmin. He was born in 1359 AD at Mailkot, where Ramanuj had set up an idol of Vishnu and induced the Brahmins to renounce their devotion to Shiva. Very little is known of his Ramanand is rightly regarded as an eminent pioneer of the Bhakti Movement in northern India and as a distinguished leader of the Vairagi Cult. He started preaching his gospel at Varanasi and imbued many devotees with the spirit of Bhakti. Kabir was the most renowned amongst his disciples. Ravidas, Sain, Dhanna and Pipa are believed to have been his followers even though all of them were not his contemporaries. Ramanand was a learned pandit. Many of his books such as Shri Vaishnava Matanbud Bhaskar, Shri Ramcharan Padhti etc. are still available. One of his hymns has been included in the Adi Granth under Raag Basant. "
Hope this will help you. Pitahma (talk) 05:38, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
What did the sources which you removed say? - Sitush (talk) 07:16, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
I just undo the article version though I check the previous sources one of them is just snippet view of a Hindi book Brajabhāshā aura Brajabuli sāhitya by Kanika Tomar published by Kashi Vishwavidyalaya but snippet view which does not shows the result in snippet. Second source is from the book : Singing the Praises Divine: Music in the Hindu Tradition mention him as Parmanada Dasa as one poet from Aṣṭachāp poets but the publisher & writer both not reliable for me like the author : Selina Sharma herself is musician & converted Hindu & the APH Publishing Corporation is a local publisher from Delhi which originally publishes the educational books. Pitahma (talk) 08:29, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
Google Books show different results in different places - see WP:GBOOKS (I think that link is right).
It might be simpler just to say "Brahmin" & omit any mention of more detailed lineage. Even better would be to omit a mention of caste entirely - a lot of the sources I've looked at since yesterday make no mention themselves &, really, caste is not often important to what a person did or was. - Sitush (talk) 09:46, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
