Wendy Snyder MacNeil

Wendy Snyder MacNeil (October 15, 1943 – July 20, 2016) was an American photographer, filmmaker and professor.[1][2] MacNeil is known primarily for her portrait photography.[3]

Early life and education

In the late 1960s, MacNeil was a student of the photographer Minor White at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston.[3]

Career

From 1976 to 2007, MacNeil was a professor of art at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).[2] In 1973 she was named as a Guggenheim fellow.[2]

Her work is included in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston,[4] and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.[5] Her archive is held by the Ryerson Image Centre, Toronto.[1]
