No header?

Is the lack of a header (the "From Wikipedia..." bit) on this page intentional? I ask only because the classic main page always had a header, and it doesn't quite look right without -- Gurch 15:36, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

It's a bug on the horrible hack used by the redesigned Main Page; I've reported it at MediaWiki talk:Monobook.js#Main Page. --cesarb 05:26, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Rename

This page should probably be moved under Wikipedia:Main Page, for example to Wikipedia:Main Page/Classic 2006, because it's currently counted as an article here, yet it's clearly not an article. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 00:35, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

No, it's the traditional location for all the alternate Main Pages; see the list at Wikipedia:Main Page alternates for more of them. --cesarb 05:26, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Only since January 31 2006 ;) [1]. It's not too late for a move if anyone still feels the need to nominate it. --Quiddity 05:19, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
See also this rename vote, which complicates things for both. --Quiddity 05:27, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

Permanent alternate

Is there any way for me always be redirected here, instead of the new Main page? I don't know much javascript so any help would be appreicated. --Lewk_of_Serthic contrib talk 21:23, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Have a look at User:Ian_Moody/custommainpage.js which I just threw together. I'm a completely JavaScript newbie so it probably isn't the most elegent solution but it does work. You'll probably need to flush your cache for the changes to take effect. — Ian Moody (talk) 21:06, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
You, young man, are a true benefactor of mankind (those of us that insist on viewing the Main page in another layout than the one in vogue at any particular time, anyway)! Inspired by your good deed, I too will now endeavour to learn JavaScript. :-)
Here's a suggestion for improvement of your script, though: the Main Page link redirection should be disabled at the following two pages: Wikipedia:Main Page alternatives and Category:Main Page alternatives, and probably also at other pages specifically treating/discussing the Main Page layout as such. If the JavaScript programmer has access to a system variable containing the name/address of the current webpage, this might be a not-too-difficult fix. --Wernher 04:16, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
