Thời thơ ấu

Strong được sinh ra ở Portland, Oregon^[2], con gái của Jean (nhũ danh Weatherford) và Jack Strong. Cô lớn lên ở Brightwood, tốt nghiệp năm 1978 từ trường trung học Sandy Union ở Sandy, Oregon.
