Lakin nació en Dallas, Texas, fía de Karen Niedwick y James Daley Lakin. Foi criada en Roswell, Georgia. Graduóse de The Lovett School en 1997.

Carrera

Lakin empecipió la so carrera actuando n'anuncios comerciales, enantes de llograr el so primer papel importante nel telefilme The Rose and the Jackal. La película foi tresmitida en 1990, un añu primero que fuera escoyida pa interpretar a Al Lambert en Pasu a pasu.
