Venice Film Festival chronology

Mexican film director Guillermo del Toro was the Jury President of the main competition.[1][2] First Man, directed by Damien Chazelle, was the festival's opening film.[3] Michele Riondino was the host of the festival.[4]

The festival poster was made by Italian artist Lorenzo Mattotti, who designed it in the way "that attracts the eye, that attracts thought, but without revealing too much."[5]

The Golden Lion was awarded to Roma, directed by Alfonso Cuarón.[6]
