Progeny testing is a method used in animal breeding to assess EBV of parents, and should be a section in animal breeding, rather than a standalone article —G716 <^T·_C> 19:35, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Alas, as the progeny article states, it is also used for plants and as such does need it's own space (although at first glance there is a possibility of merging it into a more generic article like Artificial selection for example). LeeVJ (talk) 04:00, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Progeny testing has little to do with artificial selection, which, BTW, is a very poorly written article—G716 <^T·_C> 05:55, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Animal breeding may be a scientific discipline (it might even be yours), but it also a common, practical process as well, and the common practice will also have to reflected in this article. That means incorporating information on purebreds, crossbreeds, mixed breeds, and their methods as well. It's fine if you remove things that are dubious, but some of this stuff is just basic uncontroversial information -- ie, what's a purebred, culling, ect.

Wikipedia appeals to a general audience. The intricacies of EBV ect. are interesting, but shouldn't outweigh what most people are looking for in article like this. II | (t - c) 20:21, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
