A bit fast off the mark eh? This article got created as I have been writing an article on Ermington. I think it is reasonable (and polite) to give me enough time to finish the context around Lockyer's link in the Ermington article before filling out this article.

I will point out that the references I have added are obviously not abuse. The constructive thing to do is to use those references to fill out the article text, not to over enthusiastically flag the article for speedy deletion. Deletion should be considered after a matter of days or weeks not 25 minutes.

I suggest a change of Wikipedia's policy. Empty articles with references should not be deleted on sight. Ideally the policy should be to write an article based on those references, or at the least to delete the article only after a reasonable time. What happens if an author spends hours compiling a list of references, in preparation for writing an article, gets called away for a few hours and returns to find all his hard work deleted? Result: one very pissed off author, who would probably stop contributing to Wikipedia.
