William Ruthven escaped to Virgina

It says right at the bottom of this page that "Encyclopedic content must be verifiable".I don't believe that the last paragraph on this article which states that William Ruthven escaped to Virgina and changed his name to Ruffin is verifiable.This is an ancient legend among American Ruffins and is widely accepted, but to this date without proof. In fact it is deemed very unlikely by many modern researchers.
