Unmanned surface vehicle vs Autonomous surface vehicle

This article seems to be in error. Unmanned =/= Autonomous. Given that remotely operated boats have existed for some time, the robot boats that are not autonomous are still unmanned. There should separte sections for autonomous and non-autonomous, and between having passengers and not. (as robot barges controlled from the shore can have passengers) And such barges have historically been used as ferries, being rope controlled from the two shores.-- 67.70.34.54 (talk) 16:28, 21 February 2018 (UTC)

You may have a point about autonomous/non-autonomous, but I do not see any distinction related to whether there are passengers or not. "Unmanned" and "uncrewed" are synonymous - see [1].Davidships (talk) 02:18, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

Vehicle... or vessel...

Surely watercraft are not known as "vehicles"? Geo Swan (talk) 08:05, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

Is a proprietary vessel type relevant here?

I see all the edits relating to 'saildrone' are done by an employee of the company, who has also edited her bosses wiki page, perhaps to lend legitimacy to these edits? There are literally dozens of USV types on the market yet only Saildrone has their own section. Saildrone is not a generic vessel type, and should rightly be placed under oceanography (if it is to be explicitly mentioned at all) because it only carries out the same tasks as any of a number of surveying USVs in use that are powered by wind, waves, batteries or fossil fuels. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.110.111.154 (talk) 22:08, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

Good secondary source on the maritime drones now being used by Ukraine

CNN has a pretty broad article on the maritime drones that have been recently developed, and are now being used by the Ukrainian Navy in the Russian war on Ukraine and naval conflict in the Black Sea.

Would be useful in improving the article about actual USV use in military conflicts. N2e (talk) 03:09, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
