Template talk:Infobox former subdivision/Archive 2

I've made an edit to bring over the change we made to decrease the prominence of the native names on Template:Infobox former country (see the discussion). Doing so here works perfectly well in the dozen or so articles I've checked that transclude this template, but they have broken how the template is displayed on its own page.

I can't see what it could be that is causing that problem, however. As it's 2am here and I have things to do tomorrow (and as it's not actually affecting anything in the Article namespace, as far as I can see), could someone take a look at the diff to see what I did to break it, please?

It's unnecessary to have both {{{year_start}}} and {{{date_start}}}. {{{date_start}}} by itself would do. Likewise for {{{year_end}}} and {{{date_end}}}. Jimp 08:36, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

In Olonets Governorate, this template generates a link to Coat of arms of Karelia, which is (a) a DAB page and (b) irrelevant. Is there a reason why the caption of flags is shown beside the flag image rather than below it when there is no coat of arms? As an example see the article on the Ukrainian People's Republic of Soviets. -Thespündragon 14:32, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

Replace:

There are apparently only 20 articles that use this parameter. Perhaps someone could look at them to determine if the parameter is being used correctly. It would be easy to rename the parameter to "regional_anthem" or just "anthem" in these 20 articles (and in the template code) if that is the best course of action. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:57, 3 December 2019 (UTC)

In that case, I concur with @Jonesey95:'s suggestion and now hereby propose replacing:

With:

The use of the date and year fields causes problems when dates are in American format, because there is no comma between the date and year as there should be. this solution at New Mexico Territory seems really hacky. Graham87 05:53, 13 September 2020 (UTC)

That is weird, in the current infobox there is only one "Image_flag =" parameter but it allows for multiple flags to be listed, why doesn't this also work for coats of arms? --Donald Trung (talk) 06:48, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

Not sure if anyone is watching this page, but this is an edit request, as this already currently works for flags and not coats of arms, meaning that if a country subdivision changes coats of arms or has two (2) that it can't be listed in the current infobox, meanwhile this is not an issue for the template for former countries. --Donald Trung (talk) 09:23, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

Can someplace please add the parameter for "Other symbol" to this template like already exists for the "Former country" template? This would be handy for former country Subdivisions which both had a coat of arms and an emblem and/or seal. --Donald Trung (talk) 14:17, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
