Bau Truc pottery products are exposed to sun light in natural drying

Bau Truc Pottery Village (in Cham language: Paley Hamu Trok) is located in Phuoc Dan Town, Ninh Phuoc District, Ninh Thuan Province, 10 km south of Phan Rang - Thap Cham City. Bau Truc Pottery Village and "My Nghiep" Textile Village are considered the oldest trade villages in Southeast Asia and they retain a quite good tradition of making the pottery pieaces of art totally by hand.

Original name

The village is called by the Cham Paley Hamu Trok, and by the Việt Ma Tró, with administrative name Vĩnh Thuận village since the reign of Minh Mạng (1832). After a massive flood in 1964 (Giáp Thìn), the village was moved to a higher altitude - where bamboo (Truc) was grown and a vast pond exist, forming the name Bàu Trúc (Bau means pond in Chăm language).
