Orphaned non-free image File:Chirag United.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Chirag United.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Some tips to help you out!

Hi Arsenalkid700, I thought I'd drop a few notes on your talk page with some help on writing articles :o)

First of all, it may be best for you to do a bit of reading, starting with the Wikipedia manual of style, which will give you a lot of information about how Wikipedia prefers its articles to be written. It's not as hard to follow as it might look; quite a bit of the information there probably won't be vital for you at first.

Second, I recommend you make a user sandbox - which is just an area you can use to practise in, and to make notes in, and to get things ready in. If you click this red link: user:Arsenalkid700/Sandbox, that will let you create that page (it gives you an edit window to start work in). Anything, anywhere, on the help and information pages which gives you an example, try it out in your sandbox until you're familiar with it.

For your article, the next thing you want to do is start collecting as much information as you can about it. Google searches (particularly in Books and Scholar) will be your best friend for this! Once you've found the information, the next most important thing is to start writing up each fact in your own words (very important, this), and make a note at the same time of exactly where that information came from. Build in the references as you go along; I'm going to copy in, down below this, a whole heap of help on doing references, which was produced by one of our best teachers (Chzz).

Here's another place that you'll find incredibly useful - citation templates which you can copy and paste into your sandbox, between <ref></ref> tags; you just fill in the blanks from your sources into the template, and you'll end up with nicely formatted inline citations :o) It all helps. Remember to add a references section to your sandbox (make a new line, and put ==References== on it, and type {{reflist}} on the next line, so that you can see how your citations look as you do them. Remember to save your page often! You don't want to lose your work.

Hopefully this will give you a good start and make life easier for you.

One last thing to keep as a motto: "It's better to write one good, well-referenced, nicely-presented article than it is to create fifty unreferenced one-line stubs!" Pesky (talkstalk!) 09:40, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

How references work

Simple references

These require two parts;

a)
Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>He likes tea. <ref> [http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com Tea website] </ref>
b) A section called "References" with the special code "{{reflist}}";
== References =={{reflist}}

(an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections)

To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref. Edit it, and check the code; perhaps make a test page of your own, such as user:Arsenalkid700/reftest and try it out.

Named references

Chzz was born in 1837. <ref name=MyBook>"The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref> Chzz lives in Footown.<ref name=MyBook/>

Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result.

Citation templates

You can put anything you like between <ref> and </ref>, but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look;

Chzz has 37 Olympic medals. <ref> {{Citation | last = Smith | first = John | title = Olympic medal winners of the 20th century | publication-date = 2001 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]] | page = 125 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4}}</ref>

Please see user:chzz/demo/citeref to see the result.

For more help and tips on that subject, see user:chzz/help/refs.

Something to make your life easier!

Hi there Arsenalkid700! I've just come across one of your articles, and noticed that you had to create titles for your url links manually, or were using bare urls as references.

You might want to consider using this tool - it makes your life a whole heap easier, by filling in complete citation templates for your links. All you do is install the script on Special:MyPage/common.js, or or Special:MyPage/vector.js, then paste the bare url (without [...] brackets) between your <ref></ref> tabs, and you'll find a clickable link called Reflinks in your toolbox section of the page (probably in the left hand column). Then click that tool. It does all the rest of the work (provided that you remember to save the page! It doesn't work for everything (particularly often not for pdf documents), but for pretty much anything ending in "htm" or "html" (and with a title) it will do really, really well. Happy editing! Congratulations!

Very, very well done with History of the India national football team. A lot of people would have been totally put of by your first "obstacle" - but wow! What a great comeback! Pesky (talkstalk!) 09:45, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Robin van Persie: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Thanks for catching it though. Walter Görlitz (talk) 20:42, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Collin Abranches

The article Collin Abranches has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Yet to play for team and thus fails WP:ATHLETE.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Speedy deletion nomination of Vinod Kumar (footballer)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Vinod Kumar (footballer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Pratik Lahoti (talk) 06:07, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Vinod Kumar(footballer)

I had NOMINATED your article. Malcolm deleted it. The reason has already been mentioned above. Thanks, Pratik Lahoti (talk) 13:48, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

I see that you are much into articles related to football. That's good. But, I don't feel Vinod Kumar is a notable topic for Wikipedia.(How many would actually search for Vinod Kumar on wiki???) Just playing one game in some top-league of India does not make him notable as far the world of football is considered. There are a lot of other players who have played at the international level and still do not have a wiki page. You can focus on such players/ improve the existing pages(as you have been doing). Thanks for your contributions anyway. Pratik Lahoti (talk) 14:00, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

incorrect data

FIFA site only shows fifa recognised data ,then why you are putting false data against australia, nepal, korea, saudi arabia and japan.Infact nepal never managed to win against indiaif u don't belive me ,have a look:

http://www.fifa.com/associations/association=ind/fixturesresults/gender=m/index.htmlhttp://www.fifa.com/associations/association=ind/fixturesresults/gender=m/index.htmlhttp://www.fifa.com/associations/association=ind/fixturesresults/gender=m/index.htmlhttp://www.fifa.com/associations/association=ind/fixturesresults/gender=m/index.htmlhttp://www.fifa.com/associations/association=ind/fixturesresults/gender=m/index.html

U mentioned there in 1938 club played against each other if that has been true then fifa would'nt have mentioned that match by the way india was recognised by AIFF(and taking care of team) in 1937.I'm tired of correcting the data everyday so don't do it without strong evidence(that block took 5 hrs to collect and create it). Also see this link:Head to Head

http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/statisticsandrecords/headtohead/team1=ind/team2=aus/code=-1/index.html (vs aus)http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/statisticsandrecords/headtohead/team1=ind/team2=nep/code=-1/index.html (vs nepal)http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/statisticsandrecords/headtohead/team1=ind/team2=jpn/code=-1/index.html (vs japan)

i think this much is enough to bring ur attention.Listen up buddy these days i'm quite busy thats why i'm not involve much in wiki or else everyday i would have update ind. foot. page

Thanks..... Preetam040 (talk) 05:01, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Articles on Indian footplayers

Sir, these articles are of somewhat questionable quality. I originally nominated them for deletion because there is little noteworthiness in all these players except for coaches and some top performers - at least according to the articles you presented. Most of these articles are cut and pastes - "off to a good start" is in 70% of them. What I suggest you do is expand on each one of them to show noteworthiness. Incidentally I am a big fun of Pune (my son lives there) - you just need to work on these articles more.

Non-free gallery on Pailan Arrows

Hi! I removed the non-free gallery again. The underlying issue here is our WP:NFCC policy, which is very stringent. There's a number of factors from that policy in play here. #3a asks us to maintain minimum use. #8 asks us to ensure there's significant contribution to the presence of the images. #1 asks us to ensure that what we're displaying can't be replaced or conveyed without using it at all. These images fail on all three of those points. One of them fails on #10c as well. Simply because an organization has past logos doesn't merit inclusion. How are they significant? Is their secondary sources that support this significance? If they are significant as supported by secondary sources, could we not use them anyway and instead discuss them without inclusion while referencing those secondary sources? I hope you see problems. WP:NFG covers this topic pretty well as well. --Hammersoft (talk) 14:22, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Fine I will accept that fact. Thanks for clearing. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 20:45, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

2011–12 I-League

Attendances - I see and understand why you removed the average attendance, but I would suggest that an top 10 attendance section be created. New readers to the article can then see that number 1 was 90,000 and then number two was the 11,000 which was the previous best. This table could then show the vast differences rather than the average attendance throwing up a number we all agree is way different from the actual fact of football in India. What do you think? Druryfire (talk) 17:30, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

Hey fella, your correct. Now, I won't be adding anything to that side of things anyway. So work with it however you wish.

Now, the Indian articles are yours, I mean this in the sense that you get behind them, you drive them, so, you use these articles to suit your own personnel needs. For example, if you want something there, you put it there. I use other articles I work on to suit my needs (articles no one else is interested in). I say this, because in 5 years time when you look back att he article, you know yourself that what is in thier is correct.

So, even an attendance article that has an introuduction that says something like Here are the biggest attendances of the I.League season: Please note that not all games subbmitted an attendance.

It's like a personal diary for you, why not use it. You write it, you use it.

Again, for example, the 2011 Thai Premier League article I write on, you will notice the Stadium changes, I write this for my own personal historic event of the competition, not or anyone else, but if anyone else enjoys reading it and see's how the league season was played then so be it.

On another note, we need a reference for Palian Arrows not being relegated. Theres one on AIFF website, not had the chance to find it, but we need it before it disappears for good. Druryfire (talk) 18:27, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

India national basketball team

my friend, it is great that you help improve articles on basketball in India. However, the roster for the India national basketball team was a template on purpose. I put in a template because this keeps the vandalism away. now you removed the template and people keep vandalizing. maybe you should put it back into place. List of Dempo S.C. managers as been merged into the parent article on the team. List articles are great for summarizing information where there are numerous items to include. New templates

Would you mind moving the templates you created for Indian football teams to your user space for the time being? Until articles are created for each of the listed items (Players · Managers · Seasons · Records · Supporters · Ownership) in each template, they are pretty much useless and not at all helpful to readers if the only article they are in is the team article. I am asking this rather than requesting deletion since you are probably planning to create those list articles as the information becomes available later on. By putting into your user space, you won't have to recreate any of them when they become useful. Thanks. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 23:25, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

  • Template:Aizawl F.C.
  • Template:Ar-Hima F.C.
  • Template:Bhawanipore F.C.
  • Template:Eagles F.C.
  • Template:Gauhati Town Club
  • Template:Green Valley F.C.
  • Template:Kalighat F.C.
  • Template:Kenkre F.C.
  • Template:KGF Academy
  • Template:Quartz S.C.
That is how I ended up coming across the templates in the first place. Most of the categories you created contained one article, the one that the category was named after. That is overcategorization per WP:OC#EPONYMOUS. These are unnecessary until they can be populated by other related articles, not just one article. You are doing too much "pre-work". First create the articles, then create additional categories and templates as they seem appropriate. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 00:20, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
I do appreciate your enthusiasm and it's always tempting to follow what was done on other articles. It won't be too hard to recreate any of those categories when there is more to populate them with (players, managers, seasons, etc.). Thanks for understanding. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 00:57, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
Regarding the move of your templates, you can do them yourself or I can help you, but all you have to do is click move then change the name to User:Arsenalkid700/Template:Aizawl F.C. (and for each of the others). Then at the top of the page, add {{userspace draft}}, so other readers or editors know what it is. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 01:08, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Punjab Football Association

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Punjab Football Association requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Removing Speedy at Punjab Football Association

Hi Arsenalkid700, you recently removed a deletion tag from Punjab Football Association. Because Wikipedia policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove speedy deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the tag. Although the deletion proposal may be incorrect, removing the tag is not the correct way for you to contest the deletion, even if you are more experienced than the nominator. Instead, please use the talk page to explain why the page should not be deleted. Remember to be patient, there is no harm in waiting for another experienced user to review the deletion and judge what the right course of action is. As you are involved, and therefore potentially biased, you should refrain from doing this yourself. Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 20:17, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of 2012 I-League U19

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 2012 I-League U19 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia.

Sir Sputnik (talk) 17:36, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Removing Speedy at 2012 I-League U19

Hi Arsenalkid700, you recently removed a deletion tag from 2012 I-League U19. Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 21:54, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Freiman Peixoto

The article Freiman Peixoto has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Cloudz679 17:38, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of 2012–13 I-League

The article 2012–13 I-League has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:CRYSTAL

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Your pages

Hello Arsenalkid700 and thank you for your message. To be honest, I saw a comment you left here commenting that "if you delete without informing me I will remake this page immediately". This antagonistic message made me wonder what other content may be interesting. As you will have noticed, I have only edited four pages which you created, and tagged two for deletion per policy. As ever, we try to comment on the content above all else. This is the concern.

If I could give you one article to read it would be this. I notice you created a number of new articles based on a trivial mention in one source. I have not raised this matter formally, however I encourage you to make sure your contributions, and especially new content, are supported by reliable sources and subsequently make everyone's task here easier. Of course a professional Indian team is no less notable than a professional Bolivian team and so on, but unless there are sources which reference the teams existence and the fact it is professional or otherwise notable, then there is no basis for an article. Thank you. - Cloudz679 18:50, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Sports leagues in India

Hi. It was a case of overcategorization. If an Indian football league is already in the category:Football leagues in India it does not need to be in the category:Sports leagues in India as well. Basically because the first category is a subcategory of the latter. I have no plans to empty category:Sports leagues in India if that is what you are worried about. Indian Football

Firstly a big thumbs up to you for the job you have been doing for Indian football.Really appreciate it :)I would like you to to create a new page for the I-League 2nd division side Kalighat Milan Sangha Football Club(Kalighat MSFC) and merge it with the Kalighat F.C. article. You can get all the details from kmsfc.com(official website). Also i would like you to merge the club seasons pages of some clubs if not all, with the original club pages,so that clubs having not much info on their pages becomes more robust.Of course teams like Mohun Bagan can do with a separate seasons page.

P.S.- A few days back you gave a link to a page of NY Red Bulls U-16 team in a thread of IFN;wanna know if you are in that list.Just curious about your real name.Ignore this if you don't like revealing yourself.Keep up the good work.Cheers!!! --Debarghya89 (talk) 12:20, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

Sports in India

[[:File:2011 World Cup Champions.jpg|300px|thumb|right|ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Champions-India]]

Popular sports in India include Field hockey, Cricket, Tennis, Association Football, Basketball, Chess, Volleyball, Badminton and Golf. Field hockey is the official national sport in India, and the country has eight olympic gold medals in field hockey, though cricket is the most popular sport. After the 1982 Asian Games hosted in New Delhi, the capital city now has modern sports facilities, and similar facilities are also being developed in other parts of the country like Maharashtra, West Bengal and North-East India. Besides sports and games included in the international sporting agenda, there are many which have developed indigenously and continue to be popular.

A wide variety of sports is played throughout the country. These include kabbadi, kho kho, pehlwani and gilli-danda. British rule brought many popular sports in India including Association Football, Rugby Union, Cricket, Golf, Tennis, Squash, Field Hockey, boxing, Snooker, and Billiards.

India has hosted or co-hosted several international sporting events, such as the 1951 Asian Games and the 1982 Asian Games, the 1987 Cricket World Cup and 1996 Cricket World Cup, the 2003 Afro-Asian Games, the 2010 Hockey World Cup, the 2010 Commonwealth Games, and the 2011 Cricket World Cup. Major international sporting events annually held in India include the Chennai Open, Mumbai Marathon, Delhi Half Marathon and the Indian Masters. India also hosted its first Indian Grand Prix this year at the Buddh International Circuit, an Indian motor racing circuit in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India.

India is also home to cricket's Indian Premier League (Twenty20 Cricket), launched in 2008. The Board of Control for Cricket in India which oversees Cricket in India, is the second richest sporting organization in the world (2nd only to FIFA). India is also home to the I-League (Association Football) which is overseen by the All India Football Federation.
